The Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, has honoured 68 of its staff for outstanding performances in the discharge of their duties.
The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi, performed the ceremony at the premises of the institution on Tuesday in Dutsin-Ma.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the VC was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Academic, Dr Aminu Ado.
According to him, the staff were drawn from various faculties, departments, directorates and units of the university.
The staff were carefully selected after passing through rigorous selection processes by the Universitie’s administrative merit award committee that was constituted by the management.
“The university recognises and rewards excellence by honouring these exceptional staff for their outstanding performances in the discharge of their responsibilities” he said.
“The management deemed it fit to specifically recognize them as well as motivate them to be more effective, productive and efficient in the discharge of their statutory duties,” the VC said.
He added that the FUDMA had instituted the awards to recognise excellence and celebrate staff with exceptional attitudes to work as well as spur others to strive hard towards achieving such accolades.
The University’s Registrar, Alhaji Iliyasu Falalu, who was represented by the Establishment Secretary, Mr Mijinyawa Sabo, said the occasion was timely, adding it was an initiative for recognising staff that put in their best towards the development of the institution.
He congratulated the beneficiaries and advised them to maintain the tempo.
Mrs Christiana Aniekwe of the Appointment and Promotion Unit of the Registry Department, on behalf of the awardees, thanked the management for the honour.
She also pledged to continue to render more selfless services for the growth and development of the university.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the merit awards to the staff in recognition of their contributions to the university.
