Tubaba Football Scouting Academy Network Nigeria, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has called on government and stakeholders to create enabling environment for investors in the game to thrive.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Academy, Oluwatope Ayokunle, made the call on Thursday in Akure at the 15th edition of the academy’s football tournament, tagged ‘Adu Cubana Unity Cup 2023’.
“Our aim is to bring youths together in other to keep them away from social vices across our society at large whereby we expose them to professional and big clubs in the country and our agents in Europe.
“We also aim at creating an atmosphere of frenzy for the people in and outside Akure through football, and to foster unity and love among people and all the participating teams.
“We want to appeal to all participating teams to be disciplined, dedicated and determined in the course of the competition and we wish them a hitch-free competition and best of luck.
“Our love for grassroots football development is to keep Ondo State youths busy during the Yuletide,” he said.
The sponsor of the competition, Olumuyiwa Adu, said that football was a way to expose youths to the development in the sporting sector.
“Football is a way to expose our youths to the development in that sector so that at the end of the day too, they will be able to bring the billions to our own society.
“One of my plans is to bring football academy to Ondo State in order to engage our youths, even during the holidays, for them to train in football,” Adu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the state, said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that over 20 teams would be participating in the competition.
