Ahead of the general elections, Alhaji Mohammed Ajia, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Asa/Ilorin West federal constituency of Kwara, has advised Nigerians not to be intimidated.
Ajia urged the electorate to go out on Feb. 25 and March to exercise their franchise.
Speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Ilorin, Ajia, who is a retired senior police officer, reiterated his implicit confidence in the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to provide adequate security.
On growing tension in the country sequel to the scarcity of new Naira notes and the concomitant hardships people are going through, he urged for calm and restraint
“I want to urge our people that they should not be intimidated by anybody, arrangements have been put in place to ensure security of lives and property.
“The Inspector General of Police is working around the clock. He will be supported by other security agencies in Nigeria. Nobody can intimidate you before, during or after the elections.
“All the plans of people trying to introduce thuggery, violence on the election day are just mere jokers because whoever tries that, we will make sure that the arms of the law catch up with him or her,” he said.
Ajia further assured Nigerians that intelligence officers had been deployedm saying: “All the plans of bringing in thugs, giving them police uniform. All these things are things of the past.
“I caution all political actors that they should desist from this idea of trying to use violence but rather conduct themselves peacefully for us to have a free and successful election.”
The flagbearer also promised his constituents of responsible and effective representation that would attract federal government support to communities, if elected.
