The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Deputy Governorship Candidate, Ms Funke Akindele, on Tuesday took her campaign to Akesan area of Lagos, with empowerment items for youths.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event, a town hall session for youths, was tagged “2023 Lagos State Will Break Free.”

The event was used by Aknidele to empower some youths with sewing machines, baking equipments, barbing clippers, pendicure and manicure kits.

Akindele said that a new Lagos that would take care of the youths was imminent.

According to her, enough of the recycling of old persons and projects that have no social bearing on the people.

“We are tired of being cajoled with “youths are leaders of tomorrow” the tomorrow is now, we can no longer stand aloof as some people toy with our present and future without remorse to their failures.

“I wish to urge us all to stand up and be counted in the making of a working Lagos by voting for PDP in the elections, and hold me accountable should we not surprise you with pro-life projects for substanibility,” she said.

Akindele frowned at what she reffered to as backward development trend that the present leaders had foisted on Lagos State and the people.

She called on the youths to change the narrative by voting Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide-Adediran, also known as JANDOR, as governor.

She described JANDOR as a practical person capable of taking the state out of the woods for all to benefit.

In their appreciation, some of the beneficiaries of the empowerment items, thanked the politican for the gesture.

Mr Hasit Sikiru, a beneficiary, said that the hair cilpper would be useful for him in his hostel to cut others’ hair for a fee.

Also, Ms Rukayiat Onilegbenle who said she has been sewing since a year after her apprenticeship, said she would empoly others to help her to sew dresses for people.
