Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has said that members of his family too are experiencing the hitches in currency circulation.
He pleaded with Nigerians to be calm and patient as the hitches occasioned by naira redesign and deadline for the validity of the old naira notes deepen.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, after President Muhammadu Buhari had said he could take a major decision on the matter after watching how things go in another week, Emefiele said the situation would soon ease.
He said, “I get calls from many places. Some members of my family too are complaining. But let us be calm. Let us be patient. We crave everyone’s understanding. Please, stay calm. I understand the agitation but I am appealing in God’s name.”
He urged petrol stations to keep taking ATM cards, adding that they will eventually get their money.
