The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union Universities, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, has said that the leaders of the union did not walk out on the Federal Government’s panel it met with on Monday.
The panel led by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige, has been meeting Ogunyemi and his colleagues towards resolving the issues that necessitated the current strike by lecturers of public universities.
According to him, the meetings with Ngige has not yield any concrete dividend but they did not walk out.
He said, “We didn’t walk out. The meeting ended properly. But because we didn’t have any new thing to tell journalists we just had to leave. We keep telling them that all we have been having in the last six weeks are promises We were disappointed yesterday because there was nothing concrete on the table.”
