Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he he has all it takes to have got third term if he wanted it when he was in office.

Controversy has always trailed the third term bid, with some players in the dispensation saying Obasanjo wanted it.

There is the allegation that he bribed lawmakers with N50m each to change the Constitution to enable him to have the leverage.

He has, again, said he never wanted it.

“I never asked for a third term. If I wanted a third term, I would have got it. I am audacious enough to know how to get it,” he noted while speaking on Thursday at a virtual engagement organised by Africa Leadership Group.

Speaking on the Nigerian constitution, Obasanjo called for an amendment, noting that no constitution was perfect.

He said, “Some people blame the constitution for everything in Nigeria. Of course, our constitution is not perfect, and there is no constitution that is sacrosanct and it can be amended.”
