Captain, Cristiano Ronaldo has hailed Portugal’s victory over Netherlands in the Nations League final as “a very important trophy” for the country.
Goncalo Guedes scored the game’s only goal with an assist from Man City’s playmaker, Bernardo Silva.
Ronaldo’s spectacular hat-trick saw off Switzerland on Wednesday to secure Portugal’s final spot.
The Juventus star after lifting the trophy expressed his happiness adding that since 2016 Portugal has changed their history.
He said: ”I’m very happy.It is a very important trophy for all of Portugal and for the national team.
“Since 2016 Portugal has changed their history and won a trophy again.

“The goal for this match was to win and to play well.
“For sure this national team will be even better and the younger players will play more.”
Portugal won it three years ago with a 1-0 win against hosts France, also under coach Fernando Santos.
Portugal have now established themselves as one of Europe’s most formidable international sides, adding the Nations League title to their Euro 2016 crown.
