Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has described the Peoples Democratic Party’s Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, as an ingrate.
He said he threatened to block Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, after the governor guaranteed his chairman ship.
Ayu had taken a swipe at Ortom on Saturday, when he said he had the power to stop his further ambition being the party’s chairman.
But Wike said Ayu lacked such powers, adding that it was Ortom who pleaded with PDP leaders to allow Ayu be chairman.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Wike said, “What we greed was that the PDP Chairman would not come from any state where we have a PDP governor. But Ortom came to plead with us that we should allow Ayu, a man from his state. Ortom did not even campaign. He did not even print a poster despite the money he got to do that. Now, he has seen power, he has seen money and he says he can block Ortom.”
The governor said that he and his group had never said Ayu should be sacked but that he had the duty to resign as he promised to do if the party’s presidential candidate emerged from the North.
