For pupils and parents who want a rich and memorable summer programme in the next few weeks, a non-governmental organisation is here with an inspiring package.
This is the Nigerian Children Cultural Heritage (NCCH), which is organising the LAGOS SUMMER CULTURAL TRAIN that has a lot in store for the young ones.
According to the Director of the Nigerian Cultural Heritage, Kemi Fanimokun-Oldaipo, the
NCCH is working to make this 2022 Summer holiday a unique and memorable experience for our Children.
It is set to reach the five major regions in Lagos State: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe through the various local government areas in the State.
Fanimokun says, “The Culture train will move from one local government area to another to educate and sensitize over 5,000 children across Lagos State.”

She adds that UNESCO’s research indicates that Summer Cultural programme will not only keep children safe and out of trouble but it will also improve their self awareness, self-confidence and cultural awareness, which improves their knowledge of our indigenous culture and languages.
“The aim of LAGOS SUMMER CULTURAL TRAIN is to create awareness to little children and young adults in various fields: Learning Nigerian languages, Dance, Drama, Financial literacy, Food processing, Health and personal hygiene, Guidance and counseling, Arts and crafts, Games and competitions, Visitations and Excursions.
“The role of culture as an integral part of our daily life would be emphasized. Through this Summer program our Children would be encouraged to embrace their cultural identity and languages.
“There will be visitations to Government officials, Royal fathers, Companies, Media houses, Culture/ Ancient locations and so much more,” she explains.
