The Federal Government gave a reason that may unsettle many people as part of how terrorists overpowered the Kuje Prison on Tuesday.
It said the attackers struck with weapons superior to what those defending the place had.
The explanation may thus tempt many into thinking that the government is creating a picture of helplessness.
The reason was given by the Minister of Affairs, Mohammed Maiagari, when he spoke on the outcome of the emergency security meeting hosted by President Muhammadu on Friday.
According to him, those on ground did their best to repel the attack but they were overpowered due to the large number of the terrorists, and the superior weapons they wielded.
Besides, the minister said the invasion, which happened in Abuja the seat of power – and at a location captured Boko Haram elements were being kept – came ‘by surprise’.
He, however, said that President Buhari vowed that such would not happen again, while investigations continued.
It is widely believed that the government need to sit up and save the country from insecurity.
