Sen. Adamu Alieru (APC-Kebbi Central) has called on party members and other Nigerians to continue to maintain peace, be law aboding and remain calm as political parties conduct their primaries nationwide.
He made the appeal on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, while reassuring suppirters that hecremained a bonafide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Alieru, a two time governor of Kebbi State, spoke through the leader of his APC faction in the state, Alhaji Sani Dododo, at news conference on current issues affecting the party.
He said the call became imperative in view of the fact that negotiation had been going on for several months to keep the party a united entity.
“We are here to inform you of our decision, that is Sen. Muhammadu Adamu Alieru-led faction in APC in Kebbi state, we had an extensive deliberation, after a very long silence, many people are asking questions where are we? What are we doing?
“So, I would like to use this opportunity to state it cartegorically clear to all our supporters across the state that discussion at the national headquarters of our party had been going on for the last eight months and we have done everything humanly possible as elders and leaders to ensure that fairness and justice prevail.
“We have the love of Kebbi state and the love of our great party at heart, likewise our supporters have the love of the state and our great party, APC at heart. Therefore, we are calling on our supporters to remain calm and law abiding citizens,” he said.
While assuring that the Senate Leader, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi, had purchased APC form to participate in the gubernatioal primaries in the state, Alieru confirmed that he (Abdullahi) had been cleared by the national screening committee.

He observed that the Senate Leader remained a candidate to beat because he was more credible and suitable to be the state governor.
The lawmaker therefore appealed to all his supporters to remain calm, loyal and peaceful towards a hitch-free primary election across the state and country at large.
