– Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Erling Haaland from Borusssia Dortmund when the transfer window opens on July 1, 2022.

– The Citizens will pay the Norwegian striker’s release clause of 75 million euros and have beaten a number of other admirers to the signature of the 21-year-old who seems destined to be one of the top players in Europe for the next decade.

– While there has been endless speculation about Haaland’s future in the last couple of years, Manchester City appear to have swooped in and wrapped up the deal relatively quickly, avoiding a major saga developing.

– The English side, currently top of the Premier League, confirmed the agreement in a statement, although they are yet to finalise personal terms with the player.

– “Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022,” reads a Man City statement.

– “The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player.”

– After the Harry Kane fiasco last summer, City were keen to wrap up business earlier and make sure they got it done. Pep Guardiola has been after a pure No.9 and there is arguably no better example on the planet than Haaland.

– Haaland boasts an incredible scoring record and this next step in his meteoric rise comes as no surprise.

– In 2018, he joined RB Salzburg from Molde for just over seven million pounds and scored 29 goals in 27 games for the Austrian side.

– Just twelve months down the line, Dortmund paid 18 million pounds for the striker and in almost two-and-a-half years he has netted 85 goals in 88 games. He also has 23 in 19 Champions League appearances. An astonishing record.

– The Premier League is Haaland’s next challenge, but he’s already shown he can do it at the highest level and the prospect of England’s top side adding a goal machine of this calibre is a terrifying one.
