Chief Yinka Fasuyi, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, says Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun, has proven beyond every iota of doubt that integrity is living the truth we speak.
Fasuyi, in a statement on Saturday in Ilesa, said that Oyetola had demonstrated this by upgrading the College of Education, Ilesa to a full-fledged university, which has been the age-long aspiration of Ijesa people.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the college was established in 1977 during the then military administration of Retired Gen. David Jemibewon in Oyo State.
NAN reports that Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun, had on Thursday announced the upgrade of the State College of Education, Ilesa to a full-fledged university.
Oyetola made the announcement in Ilesa at the inauguration and handing over of N1 billion worth Geriatric Centre funded by Ijesaland community to the management of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ile-Ife.
According to Fasuyi, you have honoured your words and promise to Ijesaland.
“We could only imagine what you had to go through to bring this to fruition. The Almighty God shall honour your heart desires.
“Today (Thursday), you have put smiles on the lips of all Ijesas at home and in the Diaspora. The Almighty God shall put everlasting joy on your lips.
“This act of kindness you have demonstrated is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. The Almighty God shall continue to exalt you,” he said.
Fasuyi said that gratitude “is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others”.
“I want to convey our most profound gratitude to Your Excellency, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, for creating a new history in which your name shall remain eternally indelible.
“My greatest accomplishment comes when I am privileged to contribute to the Self-Driven Community-Development in Ijesaland.
“What a personal fulfillment for me? A struggle that I initiated with the administration of Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola and that I championed 1, 042 days ago (from Wednesday,10th April 2019) coming to fruition.
“This accomplishment is a voice and bear witness to history, so that others might learn.
“So, they might celebrate the triumphs and be gravitated to the notion that whatever a man can conceive and believe, he can achieve,” the Asiwaju of Ijesaland said.
Tracing genesis of the agitation, Fasuyi said he met with Oyetola on April 10, 2019 canvassed, appealed and pleaded with him to kindly consider and oblige Ijesaland with a university by upgrading the oldest College of Education in the country at Ilesa to a university.
“Your response was unmistakably reassuring, as you asked me to go and bring the proposal.
“That response was undoubtedly the ignition that triggered the passion for enduring pursuance of this nostalgia treasure under your administration,” Fasuyi said.
