African women in media inaugurates Media Graduate Programme

African Women in Media (AWiM) in partnership with Fojo Media Institute, has inaugurated a Media Graduate Programme.
Dr Yemisi Akinbobola, Co-founder and CEO, African Women in Media made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja.
According to Akinbobola, the programme targets women who have recently graduated from a media-related course within the last two years.
“The graduate trainees will undergo an eight-month development programme taking them through a comprehensive rotation of critical divisions of AWiM.
“The first phase will recruit four graduates, and consist of two focal that include the Editorial coaching to produce gender angle stories and develop stories for bylines on AWiMNews.
“They will also spend two months each in four critical areas of AWiM to gain transferable skills which would help them succeed in an organisation,’’ she said.
The CEO said successful applicants would have graduated from a media-related course within the last two years and demonstrated a passion for journalism and women’s rights.
“We are very excited to launch this programme for women media graduates.
“It is a privilege for us to contribute to the development of new generations of media producers, nurturing their capacity to report on women’s issues.
“We are grateful for the support of Fojo Media Institute,” said Akinbobola.
Mrs Jean Mujati, Programme Coordinator, Fojo Media Institute expressed gratitude for the partnership with AWiM.
According to her, Fojo Media Institute is very grateful to have the opportunity to once again partner with AWiM on this media development initiative contributing to gender equality in and through the media.
“Providing this platform to strengthen women journalists from across Africa through skills-building,” she added.
