– Arsenal returned to winning ways at the Emirates with a comfortable 2-1 victory against Brentford.
– Mikel Arteta’s men had failed to win their last three matches on home turf, against Manchester City, Liverpool and Burnley, but the result of this game was never in doubt as soon as Emile Smith Rowe scored the opener three minutes after half-time.
– Arsenal dominated the opening 45 minutes, but couldn’t find a way through the Brentford defence. There were a couple of appeals for a penalty for handball, but both the referee and the VAR turned them down.

– But Arsenal did take the lead soon after the restart, Smith Rowe collecting a pass from Alexandre Lacazette, then cutting inside from the left wing and bending a low shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper David Raya.
– The result was put beyond doubt 11 minutes from time courtesy of Bukayo Saka.
– Brentford grabbed a goal deep into stoppage time through Christian Norgaard.
