2 in court for allegedly duping business partner of N56,000

The Police, on Friday, arraigned two men before a Karu Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly duping their business partner of N56,000.
The defendants, Abubakar Yahaya and Lawal Tukur, of different addresses, are being tried for criminal breach of trust and cheating, the offences which they denied committing.
The Prosecutor, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the victim, Tukur Ali of Karu abattoir, Abuja, reported the matter at Police Area Command, Kurudu, Abuja, on Sept. 23.
“The complainant claimed that the defendants jointly deceived him, collected four goats, valued at N116,000, with an agreement that after selling them, they would remit the money to him.
“However, with intent to cheat the complainant, the defendants deliberately remitted only N60,000 and dishonestly converted the balance of N56,000 to their personal use,” Osho said.
According to the prosecutor, the offences were contrary to and punishable under Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code Law.
The Judge, Inuwa Maiwada, granted the defendants N100,000 bail each, with one reliable surety each in like sum and adjourned the case till Dec.15, for hearing.
