His featuring an artiste like Tems in ‘Essence’ really boosted her profile, for instance.
Wizkid has emerged enduringly great, producing globally accepted songs, winning big awards that include the Grammys.
He rubs lips with the biggest brands in the industry, while he has broken records on platforms like the 02 Arena and Billboard.
‘Essence’ has been phenomenal in this respect.
He has now said that he does not want to be a lone ranger in the forest of success.
In an interview with ‘Rolling Stone’, he said: “Yeah. It is part of me, man. That’s me. I’m Nigerian. I’m African. I ride for that. And I live here. I grew up there.
“That’s me. So it’s only right for me to always make amazing music with my friends, people that I grew up, and, like… if the world can pay attention to one artist from Africa, why can’t they pay attention to all? That’s the mentality I’ve got.”
