The police on Thursday docked a 29-year-old woman, Kehinde Akinleye, at an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly assaulting a female lawyer on official duty.

Akinleye, who resides in Shomolu area of Lagos State , is charged with assault and criminal intimidation, offences she denied committing.

The prosecutor, Insp Donjour Perzi, told the court that the matter was reported on Sept. 12 at 7.00 a.m. by the complainant, one Motunrayo Martins, of No. 62, Abiodun St., Shomolu.

Perezi said that Akinleye had a misunderstanding with the complainant when she came to paste a quit notice in the compound.

He alleged that when the complainant was done with her assignment, the defendant pounced on her and hit her head against the wall.

The prosecutor said that in the process, the defendant pushed the complainant down and started slapping her face.

Perezi said that during police investigation, she could not give satisfactory account of her actions rather she attributed it to anger.

According to him, the offence contravenes Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.M. Ajayi, admitted Akinleye to bail in the sum of N50, 000, with a surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until Nov. 2 for hearing.
