WTO: Pan African Business Forum canvasses support for Okonjo-Iweala
Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s candidate for Director-General, the top job of the World Trade Organisation (WTO)

Director General of World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has reacted to some reports that she has plans to contest for presidency in the 2023 general election.

Some have vieewd her as a well exposed personality with the experience, connections and records that can work for Nigeria.

As a result, they pair her with AFDB’s President, Adesina Akinwumi, whom they also see as a potentially strategically good candidate.

Besides, the speculators see Okonjo-Iweala’s candidacy as a good answer to Igbo’s agitation for the presidential horse.

The WTO boss has, however, dismissed the report and insinuations.

In a statement to Bloomberg News on the speculation that she wants to run in the 2023 Nigeria’s presidential election, she said, “I just got here. I am enjoying what I’m doing. It is a very exciting job and I am trying to have some successes here.”
