As Nigerians await the punishment the Nigerian Army will give Chika Anele, a female officer that assaulted a female National Youths Service Crorps member in Calabar, Cross River State, the victim has said that the experience is still affecting her.
The ‘corper’, Ifeyinwa Ezeiruka, has been redeployed to Lagos, arriving on Friday, September 24.
Speaking with AIT, Ifeyinwa said although everyone, including thje military, had been sympathising with her, she is troubled by the trauma.
Anele had, as a result of an alleged argument between them, knelt her down and poured dirty water on her head, even as she was in the NYSC uniform.
She also hit her with the plastic she used.
Speaking on the experience, Ifeyinwa said:
“Ever since the incident, I have not been myself because of the trauma; each time I remember what the baby did, I feel embarrassed,” she said.
When asked what she wants the government to do to her abuser, the corper said the law should take its course.
She urged her colleagues not to cave in to intimidation or tyrannical display by uniform officials.
“My advice to them is that they should be strong, there is pressure on them because one of their colleagues was dealt with, my advice to them is to be strong and fight for their rights,” she said.
