73 pupils abducted in Zamfara’s new banditry invasion

Another set of 73 pupils are involved in the latest abduction carried out by bandits in Government Secondary School, Kaya, Zamfara State.

With the kidnapping the innocent children and their parents have been roped into a tragic game that , characterised by anxiety, suffering and fear of the worst, based on the experience that past victims have been having.

While confirming the number on Wednesday, however, the state police command urged patience and gave the assurance that it was determined to get the pupils rescued.

Zamfara state police spokesperson, Mohammed Shehu said 73 students were abducted from the school.

She said, “The Zamfara state police command wishes to confirm the abduction of 73 students of Government Day Secondary school, Kaya in Maradun LGA. The abduction followed the invasion of the school by large number of armed bandits that occurred today at exactly 1122hrs.

“The command under the leadership of CP Ayuba N Elkanah psc+ has deployed search and rescue team that was mandated to work in synergy with the military to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students.

“Security has also been been beefed up at Kaya Village and environs to forestall further attack on the communities.

“Further development will be made known to members of the public.”
