President Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, has compared the ways his principal handles killer herdsmen and the Indigenous People of Biafra.

While the President has declared the latter terrorists and proscribed them, he has not done the same to the killer herdsmen who are believed to be mainly Fulani, his ethnic group.

As a result, many believe he is protecting them.

Garba, however, said on Sunday that this was far from the truth.

According to him, the way Buhari is handling the killer herdsmen is worse than that of IPOB.

He said while he had declared that any herdsmen seen carrying an AK-47 gun be shot on sight, he had not done that to IPOB.

Garba told BBC on Saturday: “What the Buhari administration has done to the arms-wielding bandits is worse than being declared as terrorists. There is a subsisting order by the President that any arms-wielding, AK-47 bandits should be shot on sight.

“Yes, IPOB has been proscribed by law of the land, there is no shoot-on-sight order,” Shehu said.

“The Nigerian Air Force is busy bombing locations, the military is there on the ground, exchanging fire for fire, taking them out in hundreds, that is certainly not treating people (bandits) lightly.”
