Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, has presented a sum of $17,000 to Blessing Oborududu and Ese Brume for their feats at the ongoing Tokyo Olympic.
Blessing got $10,000 for winning a silver medal while Ese got $7,000 for bronze.
This came a day after the Federal Government announced a reward of 15, 000 dollars, 10,000 dollars, 7,500 dollars for gold, silver, and bronze medalists at the Tokyo Olympics.
“There’s no point delaying the reinforcement of these athletes who have made the country proud, that is the reason they were rewarded immediately for their record-breaking performances,” a statement quoted Dare as saying during the presentation ceremony in Tokyo.
According to Blessing, the development is a big plus for her.
“I am just super excited and I want to say thank you to all my supporters and the Federal Government of Nigeria for the encouragement,” she said.
