Producer of controversial movie, ‘Oko Iyabo’, Yomi Fabiyi, has tackled popular actor, Baba Latin (Bolaji Amusan) and other executives of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria over their decision to suspend him.
He was suspended on Thursday for producing the film which, they noted, violated ethics and was against the spirit of law.
The film is about the defilement case of actor Baba Ijesha.
Responding to the suspension, Fabiyi said TAMPAN could not suspend him because he had never been a member of of the association.
He said in a statement: “I am originally ANTP member, worst case I’ll renew my membership there.
“I have never obtained or signed any form with TAMPAN or joined any guild. I was made to pay for registration which I did but no form or formal procedure.”
“The letter is inappropriate; not valid for me as a filmmaker. Any reaction of necessary will be on the basis of human rights violation if I so seek judicial redress. You can’t lose what you don’t have.”
