Twitter has said that a tweet by President Muhammdu Buhari, which alluded to the happenings during the Nigerian Civil War, violates its rules.
Reacting to the upheavals the South-West has been witnessing, Buhari had tweeted:
“Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”
Many find the statement repulsive and insensitive.
Based on the controversy it generated Twitter has now brought it down, reminding observers of how it applied the strong rule against his alleged excesses.
On the Buhari declaration, it said: “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules”.
