The Bauchi state government says it has spent N372 million on the reactivation of dilapidated power lines, to restore regular power supply to the state.
Malam Umaru Sade, the state Commissioner for Power, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Bauchi, on Wednesday.
He said the project, which was carried out in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), covered the state’s 20 local government areas.
Sade added that the state government had initially allocated N400 million for the re activation project because ”we were fully committed and determined to restore power supply in the state.”
He emphasized that regular power supply would not only boost the economy of the state, but also empower the people, through the establishment of small and medium scale industries, for accelerated development.
The commissioner added that three units of 33KVA had been fully upgraded to 132 KVA, to ensure stable power supply, saying all the projects were executed between November 2020 to date.
