An Ibadan, Oyo State-based man, has lamented how his mother caught his wife having sex with another man who is a member of their church.
The man, Emmanuel Pius, told the Mapo Customary Court this in the ancient on Monday when the court eventually dissolved 21-year-old marriage between him and the woman, Adewumi.
The woman, a businesswoman who is a mother of three, said in her petition that her husband had refused to take charge and be responsible for his family’s upkeep.
Delivering judgment, the President of the Court, Chief Ademola Odunade said the divorce was granted in the interest of peace.
Odunade granted custody of the children to Pius and ordered Emmanuel to pay N12, 000 as monthly upkeep.
In her petition, Pius said: ” my husband refused to pay my children’s school fees. Because of that my children stopped going to school.
”Emmanuel turned me to his punching bag. He is fond of spreading lies about me that he caught me in bed with another man”.
Emmanuel, a commercial motorcycle rider consented to the divorce but refuted all allegations leveled against him.
“My lord, she left my home because my mother caught her in bed with our church member,” he said.
He tendered receipts of the school fees he said he had paid over the years before the court
