President of Sudan Omar al Bashir has stepped down following the interference of the army and are in talks about forming a transitional government.
Reports state that he was forced to step down by the army and is under house arrest with several aides at the presidential palace, along with a number of Muslim Brotherhood leaders.
The Minister of Production and Economic Resources in North Darfur, Adel Mahjoub Hussein, is reported to have told Dubai-based Al Hadath TV: “There are consultations to form a military council to take over power after President Bashir stepped down.”
This is coming after Sudan’s state TV said on Thursday that the military would make an important announcement.
Thousands of protesters, including women carrying their children, were seen marching towards the military headquarters in the capital waving the national flag, rejoicing as Omar al Bashir quits after 30 years in power.
