The Peoples Democratic Party in Kano State has announced its withdrawal from the upcoming local government election in the state.
This is as the All Progressives Congress Party sweeps the poll in Borno State, with the PDP alleging that the APC has budgeted N2.3bn for the Kano election.
Announcing the development on Tuesday, a PDP leader, Danladi Abdulhameed, said:
“The Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Ganduje cannot conduct a free and fair election as it lacks the political morality to do so, therefore, our party, the PDP will not participate in the sham of an election come January 16, 2021.
“We will not partake in an exercise which is aimed at siphoning the state’s resources, we resist any attempt to use us to assert credibility on a venture aimed at looking Kano treasury.”
