Mr Olusegun Runsewe, Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), says the ongoing 2020 National Festival for Arts and Culture in Jos, has helped in building bridges by uniting Nigerians through culture.
Runsewe said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Thursday.
“The National Council for Arts and Culture has used the 2020 NAFEST to build bridges, to navigate and bring Nigerians together.
“The unity we have witnessed here is unprecedented, people from different parts of the country being united by one thing, culture.
“NAFEST is a platform to unite Nigerians and bring people together, we will continue to do that and we hope Nigeria of our dream won’t be far away,” he said.
Runsewe described the hosting of the event by Plateau as a blessing.
“The hosting of the festival by Plateau at the challenging period of COVID-19 pandemic, is wonderful because it shows that the state has all it takes to hold a cultural event such as this.
“Many participants have expressed shock and delight that a beautiful place like Plateau exists with such beautiful weather that can only be experienced abroad.
“Only cultural festivals like this can expose Nigerians and make them appreciate what we have, most of them have come to fall in love with the state,” he said.
The Director General said that 24 states including the Federal Capital Territory were participating at the festival and expressed satisfaction with their conduct.
“The festival with the theme- COVID-19 and Cultural dynamism, has opened lots of opportunities for Nigerians who had no hope before,” he said.
