FUTURE UNDER ARREST!
By Marquess-Igo Johnson Agbo

Teeny-weeny, life begins,
From our little embryos
With Great Spirit, we grow fast
Like laurel in the spring
As children, we wait and request
For the best of our world
But,
The shining light
Glowing not the stars
Apt to the time, but not the future
As forward planners held;
Twinkle-twinkle they said
But,
Mini-mini we see
Yea,
The light shone as said
But on the moons alone
And,
Shine not all-round.

Hey!
The words of our Nurses lose,
But taste of truth
They Speak misfortune
Instead of destiny
As swore by pharaoh
In the baskets of our birth.

Teensy-weensy,
Our belief glitters our world
Just as our crown creates aura
Around the nobles,
Our telescopic mind is pregnant
But,
Our nurses aborted the embryos
As coached.

Though,
Our precious predestined palms’ LETTERS
Read:
“We are the heads”
But,
Our nurses coloured the semen
As that of lovechild,
As toddlers, they care for us
Like Marquess and Duchess,
Inscribed on our heads “The heads”
And we are conquered by the first belief;
“The rulers of tomorrow”
Like the first Roman Christians.

But as our bravura aura carries us
Into terrain of beautiful world,
We become their enemies
As if we are no more
The heirs they called “The heads.”

And as we grow older,
The refuse of our failures
Become their buffet,
We are like prodigal child
Coming to gather,
Less from his father
Then we settle,
But to accept our flaw
So that we beg for a tip of milk
From the bosom of our nurses
As if we are sojourners
In our own world.

COMMENTARY:
Youth,
The trick is pure;
Our hope is charmed
As the demand for silver and gold
Become our mental pictures
The little we know
The less we see
The more we look
The less we see
The new we see
The old we have
The less we see
The short our vision become
Even when we know,
And believe,
Beacon of hope we have forever
As if we are destined to be mannequin

Then what shall we say?
That the future arrest forever?
God forbid!
We shall rise to take our place
We are the leaders of tomorrow.
