3 men in court for allegedly stealing N500,000

A 35-year-old car dealer, Kehinde Solanke, on Tuesday appeared in Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, Lagos, for allegedly receiving stolen property.

The police charged Solanke with two counts of conspiracy and possession of stolen property.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in June at 2 p.m in Agege area of Lagos.

Ajayi said the defendant conspired with one Samuel, to buy a stolen Camry for N350, 000, knowing full well it was a stolen vehicle from some, who are at large.

She said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Solanke, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate O.A Ajibade admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ajibade ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, with evidence of tax payment and passport photographs attached with an affidavit of means.

She adjourned the case until Oct. 19 for hearing.
