A new musical drama titled ‘Which Way’ is driving conversations around domestic violence, childhood trauma, and family silence following its premiere at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in Lagos.
Produced by Jumafor Ajogwu, founder of UK-based Bold Pictures, and directed by Jide Okeke, the film explores the long-term consequences of unresolved emotional pain within a family structure.
The storyline centers on Ladi, a Lagos mechanic whose turbulent childhood shapes his treatment of his wife, Beatrice, and their teenage daughter, Feyi, illustrating how trauma can cycle through generations.
Representatives from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) attended the premiere, where filmmakers placed DSVA support helpline contacts on seating to assist potential victims.
Ajogwu noted that the project aims to challenge the traditional culture of domestic secrecy ahead of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
The movie stars Floyd Igbo, Chidinma Nebo, Mariam Kayode, and Onome Akpotebu, alongside guest appearances by Chimezie Imo, Stan Nze, Ijeoma Grace Agu, and Yemi Blaq.
