Nigerian medical doctor and software developer, Yerins Abraham, is bringing a familiar part of Nigerian childhood to the digital space with a new game inspired by the street football game known as Monkey Post.
Abraham shared the game in a post on X, describing it as a game built around a version of football many Nigerians grew up playing.
According to him, the game features a small pitch, tiny goalposts and no goalkeeper, with players focused on dribbling, passing and shooting.
Unlike traditional football, Monkey Post is associated with informal street games where the rules, number of players and playing style can vary.
The game has long been part of informal football culture in Nigeria, with the name referring to the small goalpost used in the game.
Abraham’s digital version is designed to be played directly in a web browser, meaning users do not need to download an application before playing.
He shared a link to the game, inviting people to check it out.
The project offers a modern take on a game that is familiar to many Nigerians, transferring a simple street-football experience from neighbourhood pitches to the screen.
For Abraham, the project also reflects how everyday Nigerian experiences can inspire digital products and games, turning something familiar from childhood into an interactive experience for a new audience.
