King Charles III will host Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman at Windsor Castle on Tuesday for a state visit featuring a ceremonial welcome and a royal banquet.
Queen Camilla, Prince William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, will join the monarch in welcoming the Omani leader and entertaining him at a state banquet in St George’s Hall.
In the morning, William will meet the sultan at his residence and accompany him to Windsor on behalf of the king.
Charles and Camilla will receive the sultan on a special dais in Windsor town centre before joining him in a horse-drawn carriage procession to the castle. The visit will also feature a ceremonial welcome and an inspection of the Guard of Honour.
The visit comes against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. On Wednesday, the sultan is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Andy Burnham at Downing Street.
The two leaders met in July to discuss efforts to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, with Burnham expressing appreciation for Oman’s mediation efforts in the region.
The sultan last visited Charles in the summer of 2025 for tea and a private meeting at Windsor Castle.
The last state visit to Britain by an Omani sultan took place in 1982, when the late Queen Elizabeth II hosted Sultan Qaboos bin Said, a cousin of the current ruler, at Buckingham Palace.
