“If you don’t know, can you say that the ADC candidate today in the southern part of the country, can he beat his chest and say he has control of one state in the south?” Yari asked.

President Bola Tinubu will officially launch his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna on October 24, according to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.
Yari disclosed this on Friday after meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to discuss campaign preparations and state visit arrangements.
The campaign council’s inaugural meeting is scheduled for October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall, where a finalized timetable for the President’s nationwide visits will be made public.
Following the launch in Kaduna, the campaign tour will move to Port Harcourt and subsequently to Maiduguri.
Expressing strong confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects, Yari emphasized the necessity of securing substantial backing across both northern and southern Nigeria.
He referenced former President Muhammadu Buhari’s past electoral challenges—noting that strong regional support alone was insufficient without national reach—and claimed that Tinubu has successfully built a broad, cross-regional coalition since taking office.
Challenging the opposition, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, Yari questioned the nationwide electoral strength of rival candidates, specifically asking whether the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate could claim control of even a single state in the southern region.
Closing his remarks, Yari defended the administration’s economic record, asserting that recent policy reforms have begun turning the country’s economy around. He maintained that this performance, combined with widespread national support, places the ruling party in a strong position ahead of the 2027 polls.
