APC chieftain Farouk Aliyu says the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in some ways poses a danger to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Aliyu made the comment amid the recent disagreement between Wike and the APC Governors’ Forum over Wike’s Rainbow Coalition political group.
Shortly after a closed-door meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, the APC Governors’ Forum, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, openly opposed Wike’s Rainbow Coalition group.
The governors said they would not support or engage in any political arrangement that was not fully in support of all APC candidates.
Wike, in response, dismissed their position, describing the governors as “Smart but lazy”.
He argued that he never promised to work for APC candidates at the subnational levels, saying his commitment was to support Tinubu’s re-election while working for members of his party, the PDP, in other elections.
Reacting to the political tension, Aliyu, who appeared on Channels Television on Wednesday night, described Wike as arrogant and accused him of failing to recognise that power and life are transient.
He said Wike’s current political position could, in some ways, pose a danger to Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
