A 21-year-old student, Joe Ebitigha, on Thursday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two Android phones valued at N395,000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that Ebitigha allegedly stole a Tecno POP10 valued at N170,000 and an OPPO A15 valued at N225,000 from the house of Mr Francis Michael on July 29 at Ikoya Road, Okitipupa.
He said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Chief Magistrate Oluyemi Olumekun granted the defendant N100,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
She ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide evidence of two years’ tax payment to the state government.
The case was adjourned until Oct. 5 for further hearing.
