Comedian Seyi Law has sparked reactions on social media after mocking former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi over his claims about the state’s finances at the end of his tenure.
Obi has repeatedly said he left about $150 million and N36 billion in savings and investments for Anambra when he left office in March 2014. Recent reports show that he has continued to defend the claim amid renewed debate over the state’s finances.
Seyi Law shared an old newspaper clipping reporting that Bola Ahmed Tinubu left N27 billion in the Lagos State treasury when he completed his tenure as governor in May 2007.
Taking a swipe at Obi, the comedian noted that Tinubu had not used the figure as a campaign point, adding, “some people will not allow us rest.”
His post has generated mixed reactions, with some social media users supporting his position while others argued that the financial circumstances of Anambra and Lagos during the two governors’ tenures were different.
