Nigerian singer Esegine Orezi Allen, popularly known as Orezi, has vowed to cut ties with any of his friends who support American woman Lindsay Clancy, who strangled her three children to death and attributed her actions to postpartum psychosis.
Orezi criticised those showing sympathy towards Clancy, arguing that anyone who supports her has their reasoning impaired.
The singer questioned how anyone could empathise with a woman who strangled three of her children, describing the act as difficult to justify despite the explanation surrounding her mental state.
Orezi said he would not associate with friends who defend or support Clancy over the deaths of her children.
Clancy was accused of killing her three children by strangulation before attempting to take her own life. She later attributed the killings to postpartum psychosis, a severe mental health condition that can occur after childbirth.
Orezi’s comments have sparked discussion about the extent to which mental illness should be considered when assessing responsibility for violent acts, particularly those involving children.
