Wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu, will on Sept. 10 launch the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East geopolitical zone in Anambra.
Daniel Ezeigwe, Senior Media Aide to the Wife of the Anambra Governor, Nonye Soludo, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Ezeigwe said the inauguration would form part of Tinubu’s official visit to Anambra, her first visit to the state since assuming office.
He said the programme was part of efforts under the Renewed Hope Initiative to strengthen food security and support vulnerable households amid concerns over hunger and nutrition.
The visit will also feature the empowerment of 5,000 people under the Progressives United Against Poverty Initiative, a partnership championed by the Anambra Government in support of the RHI Economic Support Scheme.
Ezeigwe said the empowerment programme was designed to provide beneficiaries with practical economic support and opportunities to improve their livelihoods, particularly people and households requiring assistance to become more economically productive.
He added that Tinubu would also visit the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where she would inaugurate key projects at the institution.
According to him, the visit is expected to strengthen the partnership between the Federal Government and the Anambra Government in advancing programmes focused on poverty reduction, economic empowerment, food security and improved livelihoods.
He said the visit would provide Anambra residents with an opportunity to benefit directly from the empowerment programme and other interventions scheduled for the First Lady’s visit.
