Ronald Araújo dropped a Player of the Match performance for Liverpool on Wednesday night before addressing his love for both Anfield and Barcelona.
Fresh off providing a backheel assist to set up Dominik Szoboszlai’s equalizer in Liverpool’s 2-1 Champions League comeback win against Atlético Madrid, the Uruguayan opened up about his feelings regarding his loan spell and his parent club.
Speaking after the final whistle, Araújo said:
”Liverpool is a top club, Barça too. Of course I am following Barcelona. I see they’re doing well and I’m happy for them, so happy. I’m also happy here at Liverpool, I feel very good.”
Playing as a right-back, Araújo ran the show against Atlético. His cheeky backheel flick in the 40th minute unlocked the defense and sparked the Reds’ comeback before Alexis Mac Allister sealed all three points. The Uruguayan defender was named Liverpool’s Player of the Match by the fans after an absolute masterclass at Anfield.
