Nigerian households are facing another increase in cooking costs as the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, climbs to about ₦1,300 per kilogramme.
The latest price represents an 8.3 per cent increase from the approximately ₦1,200 per kilogramme recorded in August.
However, the price varies across locations, with some retailers reportedly selling LPG for between ₦1,350 and ₦1,400 per kilogramme.
The increase comes amid concerns over supply, transportation costs and fluctuations in international energy markets, factors that continue to influence the domestic LPG market.
For households that depend on cooking gas, the latest hike means spending more to refill their cylinders, adding to the financial pressure caused by rising prices of other essential goods and services.
The development also comes as many Nigerians continue to rely on LPG as an alternative cooking fuel, making changes in its price a direct concern for households and small businesses.
With prices varying from one location to another, consumers may now have to adjust their budgets as the latest increase takes effect across different markets.
