Troops of the Nigerian Army have raided a suspected Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) hideout in Obibi Forest, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo, recovering arms and ammunition.
The operation was conducted on Wednesday by troops of the 197 Special Forces Battalion in collaboration with the 342 Army Reference Hospital, Nigeria Police and vigilantes.
One suspected IPOB member was arrested, while the troops recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun, a G3 rifle, a magazine containing 15 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, an additional 64 rounds, a motorcycle and charms.
The suspect and recovered items were handed over to 34 Artillery Brigade for further investigation.
In a related operation, troops of 143 Battalion arrested seven suspected drug peddlers in Nunya community, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia.
The suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Police, Ovim Division, for further investigation.
