Apple has entered the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, unveiled at its “Surprise and Shine” event on September 9, 2026.
The event also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, marking the first major iPhone launch led by Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook earlier this month.
The passport-style iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch outer display that opens to reveal a 7.6-inch inner screen.
It is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip and offers up to 2TB of storage.
The foldable device also comes with a dual-camera system, Apple Pencil support and Touch ID integrated into the side button.
Apple said the device’s design and cooling system are built to support demanding workloads, including on-device artificial intelligence.
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, with pre-orders scheduled to begin on October 16 and sales commencing on October 23.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are powered by the A20 Pro chip and feature upgraded camera systems, including a 48-megapixel main camera with a variable aperture.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, while the Pro Max starts at $1,299.
Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on September 12, with both models going on sale on September 18.
Apple did not announce a standard iPhone 18 at the event, instead focusing on its new Pro models and first foldable iPhone.
