Popular Nigerian dancer and socialite, Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is being held on remand in the United Kingdom and is expected to appear before a London court on September 15 over an alleged assault.
The Snaresbrook Crown Court has confirmed that Poco Lee will appear before the court at 10 a.m. on the scheduled date for proceedings relating to the allegation.
The development was also confirmed by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom.
Kuti said Poco Lee is currently being held in a UK prison and that the September hearing is expected to be a plea hearing, where he would indicate whether he intends to plead guilty or not guilty.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” Kuti said.
He added that he would attend the proceedings as part of his support for Nigerians facing legal challenges in the UK.
Kuti urged the public to allow the legal process to take its course, stressing that Poco Lee remains innocent until proven guilty by a court.
Reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention in the UK began circulating online on August 19, although details surrounding the allegation were initially unclear.
The latest development confirms that the entertainer has a scheduled court appearance, while further details of the case are expected to emerge as the legal proceedings continue.
