 The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has described the death of veteran journalist and Publisher of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, as a major loss to Nigeria’s media industry.

The minister expressed deep sadness over Oladipo’s death via a statement issued by his Media Aide, Rabiu Ibrahim, on Friday in Abuja.

Oladipo died on Tuesday in Lagos at the age of 56.

“Dotun Oladipo was a dedicated journalist and media entrepreneur who made valuable contributions to Nigerian journalism, particularly in political reporting and digital publishing.

“His death is a painful loss to the media community,” the minister said.

He said Oladipo’s commitment to professional journalism and his contribution to the growth of online media would be remembered.

He commiserated with the family, colleagues, friends and staff of The Eagle Online, praying that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss.

The minister prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort his loved ones.
