Team Nigeria’s men’s 4x100m relay team has been downgraded to bronze after Canada successfully appealed its disqualification at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The Nigerian quartet of Favour Ashe, Kayinsola Ajayi, Nicholas Fakorede and Udodi Onwuzurike had initially been awarded the silver medal after Canada, which finished second in 38.11 seconds behind Australia, was disqualified for an alleged lane infringement.
However, Canada challenged the decision, delaying the medal presentation. The appeal was later upheld, restoring Canada’s silver medal and moving Nigeria to bronze, according to the updated official Commonwealth Games results.
With the latest adjustment, Team Nigeria has won 23 medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games—10 gold, six silver and seven bronze.
