The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has reported a decline in fuel supply and consumption in July compared with June, while diesel stock sufficiency improved significantly.
According to the NMDPRA monthly Factsheet for July 2026, crude oil receipts by domestic refineries fell from 0.632 million barrels per day (mbpd) in June to 0.585 mbpd in July, representing an eight per cent decline.
The report showed that Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily receipts dropped from 50.6 million litres per day (lpd) in June to 45.5 million lpd in July, a 10 per cent decrease.
Domestic PMS supply fell from 32.5 million lpd to 25.8 million lpd, representing a 21 per cent decline, while imported PMS increased from 18.1 million lpd to 19.7 million lpd, a nine per cent rise.
For Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), daily receipts increased from 16.2 million lpd in June to 23.6 million lpd in July, representing a 46 per cent rise.
Domestic AGO supply declined slightly from 16.2 million lpd to 15.7 million lpd, while AGO imports rose from zero in June to 7.9 million lpd in July.
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) receipts increased from 5.1 kilotonnes per day in June to 5.3 kilotonnes per day in July, while domestic LPG supply rose from 3.6 kilotonnes per day to 4.4 kilotonnes per day.
However, LPG imports fell from 1.5 kilotonnes per day to 0.9 kilotonnes per day.
Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) receipts dropped from 2.5 million lpd in June to 1.9 million lpd in July, while domestic gas supply declined from 5.116 billion cubic feet per day (bcfpd) to 4.723 bcfpd.
On stock sufficiency, PMS stocks increased from 19.7 days in June to 22.4 days in July, while AGO stock sufficiency rose from 37.1 days to 46.5 days.
Consumption also declined across major products. PMS consumption fell from 47.4 million lpd in June to 35.7 million lpd in July, while AGO consumption dropped from 16.0 million lpd to 14.7 million lpd.
ATK consumption fell from 2.9 million lpd to 1.7 million lpd, while LPG consumption increased from 4.1 million lpd to 4.4 million lpd.
On the performance of the Dangote Refinery, the Factsheet showed that the facility produced 25.9 million lpd of PMS, with domestic receipts of 25.8 million lpd and exports of 3.4 million lpd, leaving a closing stock of 446.1 million litres.
For AGO, the refinery produced 19.1 million lpd, with domestic receipts of 15.7 million lpd and exports of 11.0 million lpd, leaving a closing stock of 162.3 million litres.
For ATK, the refinery produced 15.6 million lpd, with domestic receipts of 1.9 million lpd and exports of 11.6 million lpd, leaving a closing stock of 217.4 million litres.
